Summer is here and at full swing and if you live in the South like I do it is HOT! I love a nice summer treat as much as the next person and this lemonade just hits the spot after a hot morning working in the yard. It is so refreshing and since it is homemade you can adjust for sweetness and have full control of the ingredients which, as a mom, I am a big fan of. Without further ado let’s get started.

Tools

– Pitcher
– Lemon squeezer
– Knife
– Cutting board
– Metal strainer

Ingredients

1-2 cups sugar (honey or maple syrup work too)
2 cups of freshly squeezed lemon juice. About 5-7 lemons
2 cups frozen strawberries
2-6 cups of water

How to make Strawberry Lemonade

Make the Simple Syrup

  • Start by combining 2 cups of water and 2 cups of sugar in a small sauce pan. ( I always adjust for sweetness 1 ½ cups is plenty sweet for us we might even try to cut it down to 1 ¼ cups) Bring the mixture to a boil and simmer until the sugar dissolves. Let it cool.
  • Cut and squeeze lemons.
  • Strain lemon juice.
  • Combine lemon juice and simple syrup in your pitcher.
  • Add frozen strawberries to your infuser if using one if not add them straight to the pitcher.
  • Add 2-4 cups of water or fill the rest of your pitcher.

Tips for the best Lemonade

  • Make it your own! Adjust the amounts into you get it just the way you like it.
  • Other add ins instead of strawberries could be mint, ginger, or blueberries.
  • Swap sugar for honey or syrup for a healthier version.

  7. Place it in the fridge overnight or for at least 3-4 hours to give the strawberries time to infuse the lemonade.
