Hello, I’m Sam!
Firstly, let me say that I never imagined I would write a blog one day. I am the least computer-savvy person I know. Computers just never made sense to me! But hey we all got to learn at some point in today’s world. Secondly, if you had told me ten years ago I would be writing a blog about homemaking I would’ve probably laughed. Still, here I am a proud homemaker arguably the most underrated vocation in today’s society. I’m here to encourage you through your journey as so many wise ladies in my life did for me. Welcome to The Keeper at Home, the place where I write about my life’s greatest passion the home! This is not a look at the perfect life, because guess what? I do not have a perfect life. I have an amazing life with a wonderful husband and children but things are not always perfect. I write about what I have learned and am continuing to learn as I grow in my journey as the keeper of my home.
I am a Floridian that moved to the Midwest two years ago in search of quiet small town life. So, we sold our houses and bought a house through Zillow without even looking at it! How’s that for adventure? Well, let me tell you it has been just that, and while we have not quite found our dream little homestead we have learned so many valuable lessons. Follow along as we find our way.

- I got married to my high school sweetheart when I was 18.
- We have five boys. Who I homeschool.
- I have had 5 natural births and have given birth in the hospital, birth center, and at home. (A subject that is near and dear to my heart and I hope to write more about here)
- I love history which I why I quickly fell in love with the historic district of our town. I actually dream of buying one of those storefronts and restoring it.
- I have been trying to find balance in my life these past few years and honestly, I think I am finally reaching a breakthrough with that.
- I love cooking and laundry. But, I would totally pay someone to clean my bathroom and mop my floors if I had the money.
- I hate clutter.
- I have a love-hate relationship with remodeling our house. (Please tell me I’m not alone.)
- I do enjoy a more natural living but strive for balance above all.
- I love being the keeper of my home.
