Why homemade?
I am a big proponent of the phrase; everything tastes better from scratch. I love that when I make things at home I am in complete control of the ingredients. This allows me to make sure I am putting quality ingredients into what we eat. Not, to mention the extra calories we all end up consuming thanks to all the unnecessary added sugars. Don’t get me wrong I like sweets and I love baking and indulging in the occasional (perhaps not so occasional) cookie or cupcake but I like to make that decision and not have it made for me by the food industry.
Ingredients
- 1 tsp of pink salt
- 1tsp dried marjoram
- 1tsp dried powder sage
- 1tsp of garlic powder
- 1 tsp of onion powder
- 1/2 tsp of freshly ground black pepper
Herbs
The herbs that I chose for this poultry powder are sage and marjoram. They also blend well with pork. I use this seasoning in my Caramel Apple Pork Chop Recipe as well as the base for breakfast sausage seasoning. I really like this combination, it’s got a really fresh yet slightly sweet taste that works well with chicken, and turkey, but as mentioned pork as well.

Salt
The type of salt I use for this poultry seasoning is the same salt I use for all my culinary needs; Himalayan Pink Salt. I use this salt instead of regular table salt because it is a healthier option. Unlike table salt, it has no additives and it actually contains up to 84 minerals you will not find in regular table salt.

This is my favorite pink salt.
